Background

For the past four months X Coy, 40 Cdo, 3 Commando Brigade have been deployed to the nation of Takistan in a training and advisory role to the Takistani Army. Based in Feruz Abad but also using the facilities in Garmsar they have undertaken basic training duties while attached to the Takistani 1st Brigade.


Even before they arrived in country, tensions were rising amongst factions within the Takistani power base, both in the Army and the Government with increasingly nationalistic and patriotic extremism calling for the removal of all foreign nationals, foreign businesses and all foreign influence. A populist movement, A Free Takistan, has gained grass roots support and during the deployment a number of pro-Western politicians and holders of office have been assassinated, smeared and forced from office or resigned 
in fear or disgust. Several car and suicide bombs at political rallies have caused mass casualties and increased levels of brutality and reprisals from the Takistani Police and Army.


Two weeks ago several members of the Takistani General Staff were killed and several others injured during a failed ambush/kidnap attempt at a brigade level meeting and war game marking the first time that uniformed members of the Takistani forces had engaged each other. Takistani Special forces quickly rounded up the surviving suspects although the 16 men captured were junior NCOs and enlisted men only. Beaten and tortured, they were subjected to a swift show trial and sentenced to death for treason 
leading to a large number of desertions and unrest across the Army.


Publicly the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has maintained that 3CB are in Takistan purely as a training mission and that the situation within the country is being monitored closely although they have stopped short of denouncing the executions saying that it was a purely Takistani matter. Privately however the situation is causing rifts in Whitehall and Downing Street with many calling for British troops to effect a withdrawal before any escalation of events.


Events however have beaten them to the punch. At 21:00 last night, a Coup led by Nationalist Gen. Lamashif seized power and declared themselves the Government. Many Army units have gone over to their side although not all, and for the most part it appears that the Takistani Police has remained loyal to the old regime although deserters and defectors have weakened it's ranks. There are reports of fighting in many parts of the country.  Gen. Lamashif went on Takistani TV at 23:00 to announce that all foreigners must leave the country within the next 12 hours or face the consequences, any property or businesses will be seized by the regime and used for the benefit of all Takistan. 


After several hours of prevarication in London and across the international community, orders have finally been issued to the X Coy Commander. Major William Ffortescue-Smythe is tasked with overseeing the orderly evacuation of all British Troops, civilians and military equipment from Takistan via the airfield where a C130 is due to land in 3 hours provided that it is safe to do so. 
- 1 Troop are ordered to collect and transport all civilian staff, oil workers and any immediately movable personal property and will proceed via route SNOW to the airfield at Loy Manora
- 2 Troop are ordered to evacuate British Military Stores and equipment from Garmsar and will proceed via route SLEET to the airfield at Loy Manora.


Mission
2 Troop, X Coy, 40 Cdo, 3 Commando Brigade will remove all British stores from Garmsar and evacuate them to the airfield at Loy Manora.

Potential Enemy Forces
Takistani Army
Several units have gone over en-masse to the coup side and will be armed and equipped just like the troops you have been training for 4 months. Russian small arms and armour, up to and including T72 as well as sizeable numbers of APCs of various types. They will be in desert style camouflage.

Takistani Police
Armed with Soviet weapons and in a mixture of armed and unarmed vehicles. Usually dressed in grey or black uniforms.

Militia/Civilians
Dressed in a mix of civilian and military style kit, armed with older weapons or looted Army weapons. 

IED/mine threat
IED's and VBIED's have been used in this region for decades as have conventional mines. The Takistani Army had considerable stores of both AP and AT mines. It is unknown whether any will have been laid - Proceed with caution.

Civilians
The local populace is likely thrown by the events of the past hours. In rural areas, the people are more likely to be hostile than friendly but unlikely to pose much of a threat. In the urban centres, reception will be much more mixed with some friendly and some hostile reactions to be expected. Given the early morning, it is hoped that many will be at prayer or indoors.

British forces cannot be seen to act in anything but self defence. All actions must be proportionate and in direct response to a hostile act. If a hostile act or perpetrator cannot be identified then no action may be taken.
