Overall I enjoyed the system. It will take time to get used to, but I liked the fact that we couldn't just run and gun through a problem. Commanders and SLs will certainly have to have their tactical heads on more going forward.

Hearts and Minds is a wonderful name for a teen romance novel, but I’ve always thought it to be a poor name for a counterinsurgency concept.

As a slight counter to that, I had to go AFK for a few minutes last night and got separated from my section. As I trudged across a field to catch up, my screen went really blurry for a few seconds. Then about 15s later it happened again, and 10s after that a third time - and I suddenly realised I was seeing suppression for the first time. If even my bat-like hearing couldn't hear rounds passing or impacting, it feels like the sphere of effect may be a touch large!

I didn't get suppressed in any of our genuine fire-fights, despite having rounds land within 2-3m a few times and having stuff definitely snap over my head, so only getting suppressed by what I presume were sub-sonic richochets of a distant fight seemed odd.

The sphere is dependent on the round, and scaled by distance within that sphere.  For 5.56 you're unlikely to see any effect unless the round is within 1-2 m of your head.  Unsure why you did not hear the round.  Perhaps a sound issue?

For reference: had a further chat with Lifetap, worked through the potential causes, and I believe he's implementing a somewhat-related tweak to how suppression occurs at longer ranges.

We've made a few further tweaks to the Suppression mod, by linking it to the ACE medical system

Now when you get suppressed we model your natural adrenaline which is part of your fight or flight mechanic.  This natural adrenaline acts much in the same way as an epi pen's artificial adrenaline, in that it rapidly increases your heart rate.  You'll now be able to hear this in stressful situations.

One word of warning however.  Be very careful using epi pens, during or soon after suppression.  Your already stressed heart might not be able to cope with a further large dose of adrenaline.  Check your pulse before using the epi-pen.  In practice this is likely to reduce our rependance on epi-pens and they'll move to becoming the domain of the medic.

If you do suffer cardiac arrest, then hopefully a medic is on standby to quickly perform CPR (on your chest).  If the CPR is not performed quickly enough, then a PAK will be required.

Was this in effect last nights Op?

We had one guy going down with cardiac arrest last night after a bomb going off.

We ran a live test with two players.  But there was a medical issue, which has since been resolved.  ie someone had a cardiac arrest, when caught in the fall out of a large explosion.

Edit.  I believe you attended to the patient

Will there be an ACE equipment release to change into clean shreddies?  Assuming you've loaded them into your inventory.

There are no respawns in real life.

Just experienced the heartbeat in ears thing from suppression, quite a smart little feature!

Last piece of the jigsaw has now been added to the Suppression mod, this time its a buff!

Whilst suppressed you'll receive a significant boost to your recovery rate from fatique, as the adrenaline kicks in.  Making it a little easier to sprint, when you really need to
