patrol op


really enjoyed last nights patrol op except for one thing frames, and i think its map related as i use the same settings all the time and i dont get that sort of drop. everytime i used my scope my frames dropped to about 11, which made aiming and shooting a bit of a nightmare. Anyone else have any issues with this also is there anything i can do to resolve this with out making my game look crap.
i have a i5 9600k which is overclocked, 16 gig  and run a rx580 series gpu

The main thing I do is drastically lower viewdistance (including shadows). In a map like Sangin you don't need to see far into the distance anyway.

Basically, whenever you use your scope, the game will render loads of things in the distance that won't even be relevant to you.

Baza, it sounds very much like you're either running automatic or un-tuned view settings.

I suggest you poke one of the more experienced players, next time you're on the server, and they can walk you through the settings.  It's a very quick job to fix it

being messing about with settings abit for that map and even tho dropping the view distance does help by one or two frames the biggest improvement i see was when i dropped the FFAA from 8x to 4x made big difference improving quite alot. even tho i have no clue what that does lol

Your graphics card is the bottleneck. I believe FFAA stands for Feature-Following Anti-Aliasing. Although in Arma I think you have FSAA (Full Screen Anti-Aliasing).

Basically when textures are viewed at an angle or at a distance, they don't fully 'fit' your screen. So some post-processing is performed to make them look smooth instead of grainy.

I imagine this comes forward on Sangin with the numerous vegetation. Each bush will need some of this anti-aliasing along the edges.
