Radios

I have a question
If my sl and ftl go down how do I grab radio to call it up. I tried to do it last night but didn't no how. Not that it would have much difference to be honest

If you actually need long-range, you'd grab their backpack as it has the integrated LR radio pack in it. Control is then as with your normal radio, but there are different keybinds to configure/trigger the LR pack vs your normal SR radio - check your controls config.

If you don't need LR (or can't find their body), you can just retune your SR radio to the command frequency - as long as you either have an AN-PRC152 or a Micro-DAGR to retune if you have the rifleman radio. They'll normally be on 31, but the exact freq may vary if you're in a different troop for an op (e.g. 33 for 3 Troop in Op Capital series missions).

Regarding wat Nick said. Often the SL/FTL have an AN-PRC152 that you can just grab from their inventory. This radio allows you to set custom frequencies and can operate two channels at the same time by setting an alternate channel.

When grabbing the 152, you can quickly switch it to 31 to let 1-0A know. The alternate channel is a bit more complex, but will allow you to use your section net and 31 at the same time. If you would like to see how the latter works, I can demonstrate one day.

Grabbing the backpack with integrated radio is definately possible, but then you lose your own backpack ofcourse. If you or the SL/FTL have no AN-PRC152, this is the only method.

I'm interested in knowing what procedure to do in this situation as well. I would be up for being shown. If the SL and FTL are down it usually means the section is in trouble so keeping those lines open can make the difference between getting out and not. Also if the section in question is meant to be supporting another it would prevent the other section moving into a dangerous position without that support. Definitely worth having that skillset in those situations

If things are particularly dire, the quickest way would be to temporarily switch to 3X.9 (keypad 5) and let troop know that your leaders are down. Or switch to another sections net and get them to pass it up.

Fair point by Emjay.

Often I specify a succession of command as SL to make sure a player in the section is assigned/responsible to deal with such a situation.

I have, very rarely, switched to another section's short range if the situation is absolutely FUBAR.

In short: if you're absolutely buggered, just make sure troop finds out - be it direct from you, or via anyone else who hears your screams :D
