Found this page quite interesting, thought I'd share it:

Came across this while looking at some weapons:

Magpul M4

ACR

Looks like the MX rifle was based off of the two above.

They look very similar.

It would be quite interesting if we could find a mod that actually inputs a magpul M4 into the game, its a nice looking weapon

Yeah that would be great. Plus I would freakin' love to see an ACR in there too. It would also make a lot of sense since it's such a modern gun (hell the British still use weapons designed in '85, so seeing ACRs in use 20 or 30 years in the future wouldn't be surprising). It was also designed to accept multiple calibre's (5.56mm, 6.8mm, and 7.62mm) so a 6.5mm variant wouldn't be too far fetched.

Yes it is :)

The 6.5mm is only 39mm in length compared to the 5.56mm which, as you know, is 45mm in length. That explains the MX mag being smaller in width compared to the M4 mags. The length of the MX mag is also clearly longer than the M4 mag (as you would expect) due to the bullet's larger diameter.

Also, don't forget that we're talking about caseless rounds here. Not entirely sure on the specifics of this, but you can imagine that this would make a difference to the overall size of the round. On a similar note - caseless rounds are also why the MX's mag is straight as opposed to the 5.56mm mags which bend due to the fact the rounds have a bottleneck.
