PVP mission


Ah, you open fish kettle of.

It's possible, was in fact a bona fide mission parameter on the original Arma2 Insurgency server. For every 4 or 5 Blufor players 1 Opfor Insurgent player slot opened up.

You would not BELIEVE the fallout it caused.

Problem is - the tactics and play style are totally different and it's either enjoyed or adamantly hated. Completely Polarised the clan for quite some time.

We ended up locking down what the Insurgents could use as weapons, so much it was hard for them to engage unless at quite close quarters.

Then they got upset by Blufor use of Apache gunship and Thermal imaging kit... Sound familiar ? Real life anyone ?

What was good and I would try it again was the mines and Ied's they were pretty spectacular.... We would need an "honest" bunch of Insurgents however as there were calls of Griefing and lots of dummys thrown around (by me in particular - I personally like all of you and fighting against you in PVP TVT is actually very stressful (!) for me and I end up massively Angry most of the time I've tried it lol)

I think if we could find a nice balance it could work ?

As Serjames says, it caused us a lot of grief one way or another.
My position remains that clan v clan would be fine, but that it's not suitable as an open public server mission because of the unfortunate disunity it provokes.

I like the idea of PvP stuff but having it on the public constantly seems to have caused some problems in the past. Doing an op or two a month thats PvP would probably work better to accommodate people who like PvP, without irritating people who don't enjpy it as much?
Even a dedicated PvP night on the public might work? The missions are usually open enough to allow for a bit more variety and more dynamic play. For example, instead of the usual method of hopping everyone in a chopper and flying to a red zone Blufor could be limited to a small road convoy, giving the players in OpFor a chance to ambush. Having it on the public would give us a chance to mix things up a bit, creating missions on the fly, without giving someone the grief of someone finding/making dedicated PvP ops.

Yeah I get where you're coming from S.T. I think we should challenge our epic mission pathfinder SkinnyMarge to find us a good mission that might work...

Or we could try and build one using the Guerilla faction ?

I think this is a great idea, try it at least.
I personally wouldn't mind seeing a TvT style mission on the public server every now and then just to mix it up a bit. As good as ASR AI is, its nice to see two squads going at it, each with their own strategy and planning.
