Tanoa on Dev Branch ( a what do you think of it thread )


Based on SJ's live stream it looks extremely good.  As to how good/bad the performance is, only time will tell.  SJ's super computer was running it without a problem, but that does not really tell us how it will look on our lesser PCs.  

However the really encouraging thing is the AI.  From tests that SJ and Clyde were conducting it looks as though they do not see through the vegetation.  Thus engagement ranges in the jungle will be very much lower than we currently experience.  In SJ's stream, the range was 10-20m.  At one point two opposing AI on either side of a large tree did not "see" each other.

I suspect we'll have to play with the draw distances to optimize perf for our OPs.

Some nice new toys as well AKs, RPGs, HKs and a rib

There is currently a visual issue with the rendering of all units (Vanilla and 3CB) when under the jungle canopy.  They're all too brightly lit.  Its as though the lighting calculation is ignoring the trees.  Hopefully this is just a shader glitch that will be resolved before it is released.

@Dom I've added the stream to my maps series, but it was totally unscripted and more of a mess around I can do another if people want to see specific things. Could even get a small Zeus server up for those interested in trying it. If not one of the dev servers we could do it locally

Just watched the 20m engagement battle bit of your video SJ and was impressed with the path finding through the forest and around the different roots and rocks.

There's a very good reason why Special Forces go straight to jungle training after selection.

If you can fight there, you can fight anywhere.
