Map markers

Just a heads up on a change in map marker functionality

The issue

Pre 1.64
When placing a marker in a channel for example side and then switching to global/group voip the marker could still be seen.
As in if you had access to the channel the marker was placed in by another, you could see that marker in all channels
(This is the way it should be)

Post 1.64
Placing a marker in a comms channel. eg side and then switching to group hides the marker.
This is problematic when using voip, especially when switching between group comms and command comms.
To work around this, a marker has to be placed several times in all channels to make it visible all the time. This is not logical or practical.

Lets hope there is a hotfix soon

I quite like the feature.. It enabled us to mark our "section" map up with our movements without getting spammed by the entire Company...

I'd vote to keep it !

I still prefer map icon placement on CTAB than the magic map.

Ctab just needs more icons and logo's that you can place. If I remember correctly, the only ones you could throw down are Opfor markers.

That one lad from Essex.

As far as I know, CTAB will not be developed further.

Why does it need more icons, it has just about every icon we need.

Go through SALUTE. Things like mortars, static mg, AA etc. You'll find in Salute/infantry/singular.

It is compatible with maps so you can see a drawn route and mission designer markers.

Blufor markers are always there by default. It's the whole idea of cTab

Ctab is not going to be a viable long term option unless the original author releases the source to his work. More of it was broken by the most recent update and it appears that it is no longer being supported so these issues - and other future ones - are not likely to be fixed.

Can't speak for others in the mod team, but its not something I'll be wasting my time on.

I think this could have to be one of those areas where we have to compromise SOME realism for the Ability to play the game efficiently.

I thought the current "Broken" maps implimentation worked quite well. We could see if you could block off Command Channel to those only in command roles, then the group channel simulates everyone in teh section hudling round the same map and making notes etc.....

Saves carrying another gadget - though I do support the use of CTAB while it works....
