Bug with HMG Landrovers 27.11.2017 About 8pm GMT


Yea we came across a bug with the HMG Landrovers on the public server. After getting shot the Landrovers weapons (Main HMG and commanders GPMG) would lock onto free look and only way to fix it was to repair the vehicle with zeus.
(We didn't try the servicing menu)

The bug usually happened after the vehicles got shot many times by the enemy.

That's the weapon being disabled - with any vehicle in Arma, if the weapon/turret are heavily damaged then they lose the ability to traverse and elevate and you'e either locked to a fixed view or freelook. Guessing you'd just taken shell/AT prior to this?

None of the vehicles that were bugged was hit with rpg only AK and PKP fire also all the parts where still white.

I always assumed as nick said that it's due to the weapon being damaged. I have only seen this after the vehicle has taken a lot of hits.

To clarify, I didn' mean that the only cause was shells/AT, but rather that they're a common cause. Anything that can damage the vehicle (such as 7.62 can for the Landrover, iirc) can cause the effect. And Arma's representation of damage in the UI is sketchy, so it will sometimes show a disabled part as white/orange.

A 5.56 round will cause damage to the Landrover, this is deliberate.

As an aside, a 5.56 round will cause a very small amount of damage even to a tank.  This is how the A3 damage model works.

yea but we have played with vehicles that have had a big amounts of damage taken and the guns would be still usable.

I have seen this multiple times, but I never thought of it as a bug. Once the gun took direct hit and became out of function, but the rest of the vic was fine.  So I guess it might depend on where it is hit.

I'm not so sure about previous answers.
I did not add a mechanism for the weapons to be damaged on WMIK. There are no hitpoints or hitpoint classes in the weapon turrets.

In single player (non-@ace3), with hitpoint debug switched on (a 3CB dev tool), and setting the vehicle to 85% damaged, I'm still able to rotate the HMG freely without issue.

To be able to troubleshoot, we need a repeatable test that can demonstrate the problem. Report back here with a method (list all mods loaded and a step-by-step description of how to repeat the bug), if you're able to find it.
