OP Rhamnousia Feedback thread

Thanks to those who tested tonight. Please give your feedback here. I'll list what I can from the debrief and comments and my own observations to avoid any repetition.

1) Repetition of the task types
2) Creation of a recce task basically 300m from our own positions while in contact.
3) Crash
4) Amount of enemy smoke popped by seemingly unconscious bodies.
5) Spawning of static weapons in bunkers where they cannot fire out.

Mortar fire is too heavy, maybe add the possibility that mortar pits gets known from gathering intelligence

Generally the map is hard(compared to the other maps) for regular public play where there are only 1-2 fireteams on

I would agree with Norton. The occasional bombardement is fine and keeps you on edge. But a constant barrage of smoke and a quarter HE (in my experience) is too much.

It seems to depend on where on the map you are. I've also had areas without mortars. But areas with are almost always constant barrages.

Firstly, thanks for the feedback. I am taking it on board and am constantly tweaking all the missions to balance them to be difficult but enjoyable. This is not an exact science due to the nature of making these missions so please don't take my forthcoming comments as dismissive.

Finding intel will reveal minefields, there's no reason that couldn't be expanded to include heavy weapon positions but this will take some effort and time. Additionally I will be adding some "narrative" tasks in time.

The key to mortars is breaking contact and relocation. You cannot sit in an OP after being contacted and expect to not get mortared. OSOD is being developed to be realistic. The Russians are an "on par" opposing force who have quick reaction times and effective force and will happily try to ruin your day. The days of sitting back and sniping AI with no danger to yourselves should be over.

I've been thinking that maybe it could be possible to get access to a UAV after the airfield has been taken? Would be usefull to spot all the emplacements etc or the AR-12 dagger?

The YABHON-R3 seem like a good choice from my little testing on the map

I'm thinking how regular the use of UAVs are and whether they need special operators IRL?

What I mean is would a RM troop have the necessary people to put up a drone?

There is no requirement for an ATV at the base. Its not big enough to need one to move from one area to another, and if you're using them to go into the field well, I suggest you might want to rethink that. The vehicle sets on the missions are designed to be different and have other options rather than be carbon copies and have everything available. This won't be changing.

What currently happens on the map when there isnt a transport heli, is that people just drive alone in a jackel or coyote to his group, when he spawns or dies. so sometimes there are 3-4 jackels/coyotees out of the base. Feels kinda silly and non immersion to be more or less forces to take a big vehicle to regroup after death or join and then blow it to make sure a new one respawns.

Landrover ambulance spawns in heavily damaged or is damaged when spawning.

I noticed it was damaged, and thought maybe someone had just hit it with another vic, so deleted it in Zeus to allow a new one to spawn. Noticed later that when the new one had spawned it was also damaged. Red wheels and engine, amber hull and fuel.

Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.
