I've suffered this frustration too, but it's part of the game. Making it to a yard short of the repair point before losing rotor energy is infuriating, but at least the HEMTTs are on station for a rapid repair :v

I have a demobrick in my pilot loadout simply because getting the bird repaired is sometimes either unfeasible or there aren't enough people on for a dedicated repair effort. In either case, I either hunker down nearby and wait for the cavalry or start my escape&evade activity - another reason I don't carry a longrange pack as a pilot, because it makes this section far more challenging and fun

 It sounds bad, i know There was AA surrounding the base and I ended up autorotating into the spawn area

I'll have a test with the HEMMTs, I gave it a go, but it wasn't working at the time. I fully understand how this on the go repairing takes away from the fun and realism, but on the public server, there is often no other option than to demo the heli and respawn, which I felt was worse that the alternative.
