Podogorsk has always had an issue with AI and trees. Now that the AI have slightly tweaked and Instant Death has been enabled, it is understandable that they are now more lethal, especially on this map.

We're making small tweaks to the combat over several weeks to make the game more challenging.  It's become apparent that with all the updates over the past 18 months, that the AI has become pretty useless. This in turn has resulted in less than realistic tactics from players.  We've also been listening to members, as they'd prefer more challenge as this increases their immersion.

So yes, we're adjusting things on a weekly basis.  But we're also interested in any/all feedback.

Also, when you say you had no chance of survival, how outnumbered were you?  What was the terrain?  What range were the AI engaging you?

@Stallion, thanks for the feedback.  This is exactly what we need to make sure the adjustments are going in the correct direction.

We updated the AI accuracy, a little, last week.  It has not been touched since.  So it looks as though, given Evrik's comments, that we might need to adjust the AI accuracy on a per map basis.  This will enable us to compensate for the AI's ability to ignore trees on the older maps.

Yes I can second this.

On first contact, you got insta killed and when you returned to the AO, you were killed within 5 minutes.

It's not as if what we were doing was anything different we'd do on operations. We were doing fireteam bounding and within that buddy team bounding. The terrain was a massive factor, I know one guy who was prone behind a tree who insta killed Sean. The biggest problem in that terrain is not being able to engage AI effectively. They can see you through the grass etc, however you can never see them. It creates a huge problem for players. I like the idea of insta kill because it prevents this idea of being able to one man army effectively. However, even I got killed three times within 45 minutes of me being on. I remember we landed in a little bird and as soon as Warren got out, near rocks, he was insta killed.

I have been speaking to people who are regulars, and their response to this change I must admit is not great, or in support at all.

Yes the AI are pretty OP as in this map you are not able to spot the enemy before they are very close. I'm one of those players who wanted the AI to get harder as in past ops the difficulty has been generally way too low. These changes have made the game more enjoyable.  I like the idea that the AI difficulty should be different for different maps. We should keep experimenting with these difficulty settings and tweak the AI difficulty accordingly to feedback. Which means we need to keep giving feedback so Lifetap can make these changes to the game. 

Thanks to Lifetap for taking the feedback and for making these tweaks as they make the game more enjoyable.

Ok, given the obvious issue with AI ignoring the terrain, I'll revert the AI accuracy back to the original value, just for this map.

I'll make the change, last thing this evening when the server is quiet.
