Dud/Blind rounds?

Is there anyway to script or mod into the game blind/dud Artillery rounds/shells instead of putting down unexploded ordnance on the ground via the editor or Zeus?

Not sure exactly what you're trying to place down?  Unexploded ordnance that is just there for show ?

Not place down but when you fire the mortars have some of the rounds not explode when they hit the ground to make dud rounds.

Yes, it can be done.  But realistically, what is the chance of a modern round failing to explode?  I have little idea but I assume its < 5%.  So on average, you'd have to fire 20+ rounds to have one dud.  It's just not worth the effort, especially when a zeus can simply place down the odd dud round

Seems quite common looking at pictures from Ukraine showing masses of ordinance including rockets and shells left embedded in roads houses and cars without exploding...

Remarkable how it always seems to show a smiling family or farmer proudly patting his new garden ornament as if to say.. "so glad you came into my life" stay a little longer... Let me warm you with my hospitality...

!!!

Not sure how practical or needed it would be for our gameplay...

Unless we're going all EOD bomb squad ?

I just read a report from when British soldiers were at certain FOB/outpost that after they were Artie's with mortars that they would find that alot of the enemy mortar shells were Blinds/Duds afterwards, same with unexploded CAS munitions being found during patrols etc.

If that was Afghan then don't forget that the Taliban were using surplus munitions abandoned and buried there by the Russians. They weren't exactly stored in a manner that would have ensured their serviceability.

I've made a suggestion to Tap that all locations mortared by OSOD should have random UXO spawned into the position to reflect this. After Sunday I'm sure everyone is thrilled at the prospect of more things that go Boom!

Watch where you're walking folks. And remember, if you do fond one of these little presents remember to thank Cookcae....

Great.... If Sunday was anything to go off, we need a few weeks basic training on what to do when caught in a mine field. Run and drive around in random directions to disarm the mines manually while waiting for the engineer seemed to be the method of choice! That and 1-0 moves up with the engineer to chat while watching him working to defuse a few mines. :)
