Impressions on Arma 3's WIP Advanced Flight Model -Dslyecxi

All good points raised - hopefully BI will watch his video too. Looking forward to the finished release.

To be honest, I'd just be happy if the final release resembled the flight models from TOH. If it's good enough for Take On Helicopters then it's good enough for me. We cant expect too much from BI now can we lol

Video was not exactly what I was hoping for. It doesnt really give impressions on the actual flight model. It seems more like a (correct and interesting) rant sbout the way helicopters work in ArmA 3.

However at least I now know that my attempts to make a rollout landing with skits usually dont fail because of a bad angle.

I really like how at 17:00 he says about the way helicopters respond to damage in ArmA. They just blow up. That has always bugged me.

One of my larger problems with it too, Arma is a game that could really benefit from having a system that works correctly with this sort of damage model as it could lead to so many cool scenarios that you simply cannot experience in a game like DCS.
Yes, I think a better damage model for vehicles, especially air, would add an amazing depth to many scenarios that currently end in "fireball&respawn"

If you want a good laugh in the dev build, try to land while your landing gear is up. It is hilarious.

I really like the fact you can do this now with the new flight models (rather than just blowing up/coming to a broken halt)

This was already possible in the standard model. However it was much harder because you could not manually raise or lower the landing gear. But as shown in the first video, you still have a high chance of simply blowing up.

As Dyslexci said, wheels.  Wheels.  Not skids and what do most helis in ArmA 3 have... Skids.

Yep, it sucks.

First at all it is optinal and even if enabled, you can customize some parts of it. Also it is not a direct port of the TOH model, just some parts of it.

No idea, it is still in testing, but I would guess end of this month or early in the next one.

But as Dyslexci said, the thing I would need the most right now is a actual gauge that shows you the RPM.
