Tobii eye 5 vs other trackers

So I have been thinking about treating myself to a headtracker, and I am quite interested by the tobii eyetracker. However it has some mixed reviews, some very poor, others fairly good, that seem all pretty subjective rather than technical. Has anyone here tried one or got a friend that has?
Other options are obviously tracker etc

Cheers :)

I use TrackIR for Arma and DCS, and would not be without it.

I've used Tobii eye trackers at work, but not version 5.  Eye trackers are completely different tech and behave very differently.  They track where you look on the screen.  It takes training to not casually flick your eyes around the screen.  TBH they are so different from TrackIR that I cannot see how you can use them for the same role.  Eye trackers are primarily used to control interfaces with your eyes  (eg. an alternative to the keyboard) or to monitor where your eyes are looking (eg for stat gathering on an online store).

Brill. Thanks Tap thats exactly what I needed. I flick my eyes all over while playing, especially arma, so that does not sound like something I would get along with!

I have used TrackIR for years but when the clip itself broke (as it is made from cheap plastic) i switched to a TrackHat Clip. I still use the TrackIR software and the camera though. https://www.trackhat.org/trackhat-clip

My TrackIR just went tits up!

Premium product (and price) with s**t customer service. Great when it's working but not worth the extra money if it's not.

I've just bought a PS3 camera from DelanClip (virtually the same as TrackHat, but TrackHat products seem mostly out of stock) - I've been assured the TrackIR pro clip with work with the PS3 camera.

My head is on a swivel, I just left the WD-40 at home.

Yeah that should do it, as they sell the PS3 camera bundled with the DelanClip Fusion led headphone mount for the complete solution without using TrackIR (other than their software)

TrackIR works fine for me. Took some tinkering with the settings to make it comfortable.

From similar experience at work, I echo Lifetap his comments about the Tobii eye tracker. Although I have seen it used in gaming... somehow.
