(Very) Belated Hello


Hi all

After 18 months of trying all of your patiences on the public, I thought it time to sign up.

I guess I am one your older players, and fell into gaming quite by random. (Serious Sam 2 free disc with a graphics card - anyone remember this one?). I had tinkered around with MS Flight Simulator since the very early days, but eventually got bored with flying B737s all across Europe. Spent many hours on COD MW3 1/2/3. But got tired of the basic shoot 'em up thing (and basically not being very good.)

I had never heard of ARMA3 (or been aware of MilSim), until early last year. I had been for a holiday to the real-life island that you will all know as Altis 25 years ago. I was planning a return visit and searched the web for any recent news about the island. I was fascinated to learn of the whole BI story of the development of Arma (being locked up on espionage charges, etc.) So I couldn't resist getting my own 'island simulator'! I have to tell you that in places it is spookily accurate: The hospital is a dead ringer (apart from the helipad).

So looking forward to many more happy moments on the battlefield, and hopefully learning a bit more of what goes on behind that private curtain!
