HDD Isues

Don't know if anyone will be able to help but it's worth a shot :).
My whole computer froze the other day whilst on the public server and wouldn't respond at all or shut down when holding the power button down, so i pressed reset button and it went off then posted but then it didn't detect the HDD. I then shut it off and booted into BIOS and it was detected and then booted up fine... This is the third time its happened and 2 of the times has been whilst on the public server. Does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing it. Cheers

It could be any number of issues, from a badly inserted DRAM, a faulty motherboard or faulty SSD.

You could try running chkdsk on the SSD, and see if it identifies anything:   https://windowsinstructed.com/run-chkdsk-windows/

Also worth taking the lid off your PC and reseating all cards, including DRAM.  This worthwhile, particularly if you have moved your PC recently.

Well my PC is a desk and i haven't moved it but i'll try that. Also before the HDD kept spinning up and down and i changed the SATA data lead and the SATA port on the MBO and that stopped it so don't know if it might be more of an MBO issue.

Drive scan brought up no errors... Must be MBO or DRAM related then

Loads of potential causes.... have you overclocked the CPU - ? Sounds like a hard lock due to CPU freeze from what you have described... Which will often require a boot to Bios to get the PC Posted properly after a crash.. I know this the hard way.

Sounds silly, but check the CMOS battery, they can cause some strange effects - Bear in mind this could wipe any Bios Settings, so read up how to do it first :-)

Contact manufacturer thats a typical HDD hardware failure. They will 80% surely replace.

I think it may be my PSU rather than the HDD some strange things have been happening recently
