Is it time for me to upgrade my memory?

Since returning back from sea, my PC seems to be running very slow when playing games. I notice that my memory maxes out at 7.6GB (-System Reserve) and that my HDD and SSD are being bombarded by page files, maxing my drives out to 100%.

I typically get this when playing ArmA. I haven't ever experienced this before but now I get massive lag when getting into intensive situations, like bombs exploding everywhere. The Hard Faults/sec is upwards of 800 when playing ArmA... is it time for me to add an extra 8GB to my already 8GB RAM?

For what it's worth.  Ive just upgraded my PC.  There is a geezer at work who is well into his gaming (Arma, VR flight sims) and seems to know a fair bit about minimum real requirements.  He told me to get the 8th gen i5 processor, 16GB RAM and as good a graphics card as I could get.  You are far more experienced than I in Arma3, so you will know that Arma is GPU heavy.  I presume you need the greater RAM for the functionality.  As it is I ended up with those bits and am not having any problems with Arma at the mo.  Certainly no lag (which I had before).  The bloody game still crashes just before I get to the photo stage!!

There are no respawns in real life.

Actually Mick it's more CPU and RAM heavy. Unless you're running 4k you'll rarely tax most modern GPUs. I would totally get the ram. No idea why it wasn't an issue before. But all the symptoms you are describing point to memory as being the bottleneck

Just be careful. Since I bought another 8gb I've had no end of blue screen of death.

Go for it, 16GB should be sufficient, if you have the bucks just buy a 16gb kit instead of bjust buying another 8GB.
Multichannel memory can make alot of problems if the modules dont work together properly.

It's exactly the same module, just two sticks of 8GB rather than my two sticks of 4GB. I'm going to keep them together, to create 24GB. They're exactly the same, just a different colour.

I hope they're the same... (8GB x 2 CMY16GX3M2A2133C11) (4GB x 2 CMY8GX3M2A2133C11)

Will that work ? I thought multi channel systems had to have identical banks ?

Well, we can only see... as you said, 16GB will smash anything, but if I can't get 24GB to work, at least I'll have 8GB as spare or even sell!

Just got off the phone with Corsair. They said it will work as long as I put the RAM in the correct colour coded slots for dual channel!
