Windows 11 Hardware and Considerations

Thought I would just post a few quick links in case anyone was wondering about their hardware compatibility and considerations regarding the update.

Article

Microsoft supported processor requirements for Windows 11 : Intel   /     AMD

Considerations:

- The list is subject to change (Microsoft often honours minimum specs over listed CPU's)
- Even if your processor isn't on the list your motherboard may still have the ability to workaround it so check up on that
- Windows 10 will still have support for a few years so upgrading isn't vital at this point
- The market is probably going to be flooded with non compatible Windows 11 items so be extra vigilante when buying.

I thought the whole point of windows 10 was that it was the last version and would just be upgraded again and again?

Yup that's what it was intended to be. This whole thing they're doing seems to be a kind of forced hardware upgrade to increase security to be honest.

Nothing to do with new OS = $$$ and £££ as they force millions of users to eventually upgrade.

Lol to be honest if it was purely about the money they wouldn't alienate a huge amount of the machines by making them non compatible, unless they get a percentage from the hardware providers. But a widely compatible OS is a far superior money maker and business model than what they are doing.

They don't tend to charge for upgrading anymore. Costs them more money to maintain another OS than they make.

i7 7700k isn't on the approved CPU list for Win11, so a LOT of people with high end gaming PC's last updated 3 years ago are not going to get Win11 (like me) Running at 4.2Ghz and rock solid performance.
