Yeah they're pretty damn loud when gaming. Been thinking of getting some quieter fans but wasn't sure which ones, thanks for the link :)

Aren't they the high performance ones though (which I'm assuming won't be quiet)?

With the quiet edition ones then, how do you control the fan speed (or is just constant)?

Of the 14 sp120's in the rig only one has failed.... not bad if it wasn't for the fact it was the hardest mofo to fit.... it's staying in there broken... #cantbefingarsed

Had to send those fans back. They're super quiet, but they raised my temps by 5-8 degrees (should've expected that really). Decided it wasn't worth it.

sorry I didn't realise you'd bought the quiet versions... you need performance versions for your radiator... not enough static pressure otherwise

Are the performance ones quieter than the stock H100i fans? What's the advantage of the SP120s over the stock fans?

Looking at the specs, it looks like the H100i stock fans (SP120L) are actually better:

SP120L
Airflow: 74.42
Max RPM: 2700 RPM
Static Pressure: Unknown

SP120 Performance Edition
Airflow: 62.74
Max RPM: 2350 RPM
Static Pressure: 3.1 mmH20

Maybe the static pressure on the SP120Ls are not as good?

@Madshepherd Yeah I heard about those Noctua ones. Apparently they're pretty good. lol at those old fans xD

The only real advice I can offer is use Push Pull. I.e. run fans both sides of the radiator. You will double up the static pressure for the same air-flow - which eliminates the restriction you get from a thick cooler - i.e. radiator. That way you can run fans slower, quieter and get same or better cooling.

Yeah I pull Air in the top with 8 Fans (4 on top pushing air and 4 below Pulling it through) I then have 4 fans blowing air over the base radiator from the left hand side and some of that gets extracted by the PSU across the right hand side and then the other smaller 240mm rad blows air from the bottom out the right hand side over my feet - (nice and toasty). So overall a Pressurised case... Very little to no dust inside considering the 14 SP120's, two AF120's and an AF140 (plus PSU - but that doesn't seem to spin up much)

I use the 2 Low pressure AF120's at the front (standard Case mounts) that gently blow air over the MB and VRM's etc... nothing extreme and 1 140 at the back that blows out. So only 2 140's exiting all the rest blow in.

Average CPU temp is around 35 Degrees. Gaming in Arma takes it to about 40 in the winter and about 45 right now. Maxes at 70 ish under full load - but that literally never happens on all 16 cores

Water temp stays at 31 degrees average after a few hours gaming ( heat soak). A little higher at the moment with the hot weather - could probably lower it a little but I keep the rad fans at 7-800rpm - so whisper quiet.
