Well the 900 series is designed to throttle past 72 degrees I think. You can see this in afterburner - the max clock will start to rapidly drop.

However 90 is Really VERY hot, which would mean something is wrong and the cooling isn't working. 80 is ok - but remember not worth it as the card has down clocked itself past 72.

I'm not experienced with hight temps like that as my Water cooled cards stay way below 40 degrees unless I'm benching. But it doesn't sound right or good to me.....

Mine idle at 25-28 depending on the temp in the room...

90 ?

That's Hot mate.

VERY hot for a 900 series. They throttle back at anything past 70 degrees. Something ain't right there.

More airflow needed ?

In fact that's nuts hot for a 900 series... have you messed with the cooler in anyway... i.e. removed or reseated it ? I'd hazard a guess your GPU cooler is not correctly attached to the chip...

Ok, I should clarify, I deliberately limited the fans to 20% to really heat things up trying to replicate the error, It normally peaks around 60-65. I have to confess that my airflow is horrific, I have the pc in the lounge and an angry welsh wife, So I need to keep the noise down or be banished to the spare room (where I'm not allowed to smoke)
So my system does run hot, and I limit the fans as much as possible, My system idles at 46C with the fans off.

So although I concede I am pushing my luck with the heat, even at 90 GTA5 was solid as a rock, and Arma is the only game to ever crash on a regular basis, and only ever on multiplayer, I ran the benchmarks with the fan limited and its still solid.
But as the most obvious and easiest thing to try, I have now unleashed the fans a bit, and I just have to hope the wife doesn't notice!

and here are some pics for Yojimbo, Its the first pre built system I have owned, so the cable routing is not my handiwork!

Ok, Im feeling a little red faced, but looking at the photos, It seems I made a bit of a howler when reassembling the system after recently fitting a discreet SSD, can anyone spot it?

Well putting that right has dropped the relative fan speed, so the mrs will not be displeased, I admit that cant possibly have been doing any good, but im still not convinced it will solve the crash,

Nope, it is totally unique to Arma online, and then sometimes I can play for hours, sometimes it will crash every 30 minutes or so, almost like its related to the specific map/mission, Serjames was right about the throttling though, I have gained about 6 frames with the newly increased cooling so that's a win at least!

Have you checked your ArmA RPT file for the last entries at crash time?
Old ones will be stored with the play dates so you can check back, unless you've deliberately switched them off using the launcher options.

Thanks Gents,

Ill have a look at the Arma dump files later, have a feeling I have already checked them though,
Will also try the above benchmark to see what happens, although as i say, I have run others and they are all solid, so far only an Arma3 issue.

Ill be on the midweek op tonight, so if I vanish all of a sudden, you will know it didnt work!

Cheers for all the input,

Rob.
