Low gpu utilization-Resolved


Firstly - for your meaty setup. Set all settings to MAX - this offloads the work to GFX cards (e.g. shadows etc)

Biggest bottleneck is Object View distance, closely followed by View distance and Terrain detail settings.

Anymore than 1200-1500m object setting is a pure luxury and should be reserved for SP sniping missions. I run at 1200 all day long quite happily. (I get that if you are a pilot this doesn't worl - sorry but that's the limitation of the engine I'm afraid)

If you want to stretch the legs on the cards, try setting the ingame resolution to 150% or 200% oversample. That THE only way to push GFX cards to the limit in A3.

Seconded, I'm running a single 970 with an i5 and can hit 55-60 frames on our public under the right conditions but generally 35-45. I reach 60fps consistently on single player.

Whack your pre-set to Ultra and tinker from there.

Arma tends to be CPU limited - this is why it's normally suggested to avoid having any graphic settings turned down if possible, because most things when dropped to low settings end up being passed to the CPU rather than GPU. As both your CPU and GPU are shiny, and I presume your CPU isn't being stretched either, it's more likely that you're effectively running into the inherent issues with Arma: it's a relatively average engine trying to do a bloody enormous job.

As others have mentioned, the best bet is to set all your graphical settings to Ultra, and then drop your view distance to 1-1.5km as it is this view distance that chews up a lot of the potential frames. As a pilot with my flying view distance elevated to ~3km, I tend to have my frames fall off a cliff the instant I step into a helo :P

Sounds like a driver issue then ? Perhaps the way you are setting SLI?

What OS are you running?  If its win10, try running the game in "full screen windowed".  It sounds counter intuitive, but others have seen quite a performance increase.

Arma really doesn't like SLI, its more of a cpu game than a gpu game. Have a look at this link and try a few things out, its one of those games you really have to tweak to get the best out of it.

That's how its meant to work.  V-sync limits your graphics card frame rate to your monitors refresh rate.
