I had a single capacitor in my last monitor's input board blow, and it produced these symptoms. It was apparently a common issue, so replacing the capacitor fixed it - don't know if it's the case for you, but may be worth researching.

yeah best thing is try and eliminate the GPU, Cable and the monitor as the source of the error, might have to borrow a mate's stuff.

Could also be a driver issue, try connecting via onboard graphics, if that works I'd recommend using a driver uninstaller, re-seating your gpu and reinstalling your divers

As above, try on board, if that does not work then open it up and have a look at the capacitors. They will be bulged or leaking. Then if you do not know how to solder, ask your friendly neighbourhood geek.

My monitor cost less than £1 to fix.
