2nd Monitor

Hi Guys, need some probably noobtastic guidance:

I have just bought a 2nd screen, but clearly did not think far enough ahead in the process as I am now scratching my head on how to connect it.

My current screen is plugged into my GTX970's HDMI port.

Is it possible to connect my second screen to the HDMI port on the motherboard? At then moment the screen says it has no input detected. I would prefer to use HDMI if possible as the other cable I have aren't long enough, and I'd rather not order more if i don't need to.

I don't intend on gaming on the second screen, just having web browser/TS/A3Sync etc open on it while I game on the main screen.

Go into your Bios settings and there should be an option to enable CPU graphics if you have a modern i5 or i7

For Asus motherboards it is....

Advanced>System Agent Configuration

Enable CPU graphics. Ensure primary graphics is set to PCIE. Save and restart.

Once you log into windows your second monitor should pop up.

Can't you just plug it in to the second output on the GTX970?
I think my card came with a DVI adaptor, but they're cheap from Maplins.

Went with what Robbie suggested but it was complicated by my screens being dumb. Thought I'd royal screwed my PC at one point...

The only reason I have had mine running off the GPU is because they are both VGA. I'm running them from DVI and my card does not support 2 analogue outputs.

Otherwise I'd run them both off the GPU
