Occasionly 3 fps in arma

hey chaps,
i have this for about 1 month now.
i can play arma for hours and hours and nothing happens but from one moment to another i only get 3 fps and my game looks like op flashpoint.
i could check the taskmanager this time and my cpu had 24% usage and my ram had 49% usage (so i guess nothing to critical there).
sometimes when i wait it corrects itself but most of the time it doesnt.

My PC:
Intel 3770k
Nvidia gtx 980 strix
16 gb ram
win 10 64 bit

here are some funky pictures for your amusement:

I'd look at your hard drive mate.

What is happening is that arma now loads up the low level models before doing the high level ones. Before, they did the high ones. This is how they are getting a heavy forest map like Tanoa to work.

The problem is that if you have a slower drive, then it takes a while for the detail to load in.

You wouldn't get this issue on an SSD. It shouldn't really happen on a normal hard drive but it occasionally does.

If everything is on the same drive and you only have one drive, then you need to look at what is using up your hard drive other than arma when you are playing.

Other work arounds use more than one drive. I have a small M.2 SSD for my system and arma on an old style hard drive, first load is a little slow but it catches up and is fine from there.

If you post details of your hard drives and what is where then we may be able to help and optimise a bit more.

Of course, it could be something else entirely but this is the most likely cause.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge

His men would follow him anywhere, but only out of curiosity.

wow thanks for the quick response to all of you guys.
i forgot to mention, that i'm running arma on an ssd and the mods on a seperate ssd

i saw something interesting in the device Manager. all of my drieves are in the portable devices tab, even though they are plugged directly into the mainboard

could that be a problem?

yes that doesn't look right at all. And could mean the machine is throttling the drive speed to a "compatible" portable protocol... Kinda guessing but I doubt a portable drive is getting full speed IO.

Not sure where to start to be honest without seeing how you have configured the drives in the BIOS etc.... Perhaps you added the SSD after the main box was built and Windows did what it thought was best and treated the drive like an external ?

hey guys, its me again, the guy that opens a thread and then never replies back.
I still havent figured out whats happening.

-i think i get it after about 1hour of ingametime.
-i can alt tab out of it and everything is normal again
-when i get back in i still have 1-3 fps

-temperatures look ok
-memory usage looks ok
-diskspace looks ok
(i'll attach a screenshot from hw monitor)

i tried "shift+"-"+flush

the thing, that my harddrives are in the portable devices tab seems to be normal with windows 10

i tried Advance system care wich didnt help

i think it happens more often, when my character is near something fancy (explosion, many enemys spawning)

i had a litte incident with a cardreader 3 month ago
where my pc tried to boot from the cardreader (what obviously didnt work), and i didn't realise that it was plugged in.
so after 3 tries of repairing windows (cardreader still plugged in), i decided to reinstall windows.
after reinstalling windows 10 it still didn't boot.
thats when i realised i had a cardreader plugged in.
after ripping off the cardreader my pc was able to boot propperly, but i now have 2 times windows and every other programm on my harddrive.
could that be the reason of my hiccups?

i'm thinking about reinstalling win 10

edit: forgot the screenshot

Which mod pack? Our individual 3CB mods (Equipment / Weapons / Units / Vehicles), or do you mean the overall repo required to play on our Public Server? The one that was updated yesterday?

update:
-i ran the memory diagnostic and windows said my ram is ok
-it happened using the public modset, but i dont think thats the reason (at least for me) because i had the problem for so long now
-i'm testing this fix atm (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=7454)
