Open Event: Operation Mountain Resolve

Situation:Over a decade of fighting between forces of the Sahrani government and numerous rebel factions has lead to the breakdown of the nation, creating deep divides along ethnic, religious and political lines.
Exploiting this situation, an emerging faction located in Southern Sahrani have announced their allegiance to the so called "Islamic State" or Daesh, declaring their intentions to create a nationwide Caliphate. The group have swept across the southern region of Sahrani, pushing back governmental and rebel forces to the North.
Fearing similar crimes against humanity perpetrated against ethnic groups located in the North of the country, and part of a larger global effort in combating Daesh, NATO have intervened by sending an International task force to the island nation to aid local forces in halting Daesh's advance at the city of Corazol.
Unable to fight with conventional tactics against NATO forces, Daesh fighters have gone underground in the surrounding mountain ranges and villages, waging an insurgency campaign against national and international troops. Civilians loyal to the Daesh are thought to be providing hideouts, intel and caches for insurgents.
Royal Marines of the 3 Commando Brigade stationed at FOB Amberdust have been tasked to aid local forces in the counter-insurgency operations across the southern region of Sahrani.
Mission: 3CB are to move out of the FOB Amberdust into known enemy territory, gather intel from the local population and identify remote insurgent positions by enticing the enemy into contact.
Objectives:
1 - Move out of FOB Amberdust through friendly checkpoints in the Town of Obregan into enemy territory.
2 - Gather Intelligence in Carazol
3 - Engage enemy positions
Secondary Objectives:
1 - Minimize damage to local infrastructure
2 - Evac via Vortex
Intelligence:
- SIGINT indicates Daesh HQ to be in and around the woodlands and valleys high on San Esteban mountain
- Emplaced positions are thought to be heavily fortified
- IED threat is very low
