This is meant to be a cold war scenario based in Germany post a Soviet attack. 3 Commando Brigade begin the mission hiding in a makeshift FOB in the forest, from where they need to foray out and clear and take ground.
Being Cold war then iron sights are the order of the day, along with DPM and woolly pullies etc. There will be no arsenal so what you spawn with is what you get.
As with other missions on the public there will be a number of tasks presented to players but you are not limited to those if you just want to drive out of the base then you will find contact. However successful completion of tasks will be rewarded by additional assets or supplies being accessible. The AO is intended to become harder as you progress into it, with small numbers of enemy with limited support in the zones closest to the base, increasing in numbers, equipment, capability and support as you move further out. 3 Build FOB tasks will be generated at mission start which will be further out and provide a good goal for extended sessions as they will generate a spawn location and a position from which supplies can be sourced.
Supply crates will be limited in number and will be depleted. Additional crates will be part of the reward system.
Only the core starting assets will be respawned on destruction or abandonment, other assets will be permanently lost.
Rearming and refuelling vehicles and helicopters will not be unlimited and additional "units" of rearm and refuel will be part of the reward system.
Player respawns will be handled through the map system currently being used on other public missions but will eventually include the ability to spawn at FOBs built as tasks, CTPs (a limited supply and additional CTPs to be part of the reward system) and temporary "outposts" which will be a permanent position and allow a limited number of spawns at that location before disappearing.
Although this is meant to be a Cold war setting we do not currently have a lot of period assets which means that some are going to be anachronistic. I'm sorry about this but until someone makes a 4 tonner, gazelle, challenger, 432 and whatnot then we are somewhat stuck with what we have got.
At the end of the day this mission is meant to be something different from the other public missions. I don't know whether people will like it or not but it seems worth trying.
