ROAD TO CRISIS - RTC:
In early 1994 an uprising of the minority Karzeghis in the south of Takistan led to a vicious civil war. The Takistani Army struggled to achieve success against the Karzeghis rebelion who at the time were being armed by neighbouring Ardistan. In June of 1995 a ceasefire agreement was signed and Karzeghistan formed.
The new Karzeghistani government was quick to align itself to the west, embracing democratic and western values. Tensions on the Karzeghistan-Takistan border remained high with accusations of trespassing common; however, the ceasefire held and no conflict remerged. A formal peace agreement was signed in 1998 marking the beginning of a decade and a half of peace.
By late 2014 the Takistani military government had reorientated its focus back onto Karzeghistan following accusations of Karzeghistani oil drilling tapping Takistani oil wells. In January of 2015 three Karzeghistani officials were arrested on a state visit to Takistan. Seized
documents were released by the Takistani state media a week later. The documents implicated numerous western nations including Britain in a long running campaign to significantly diminish Takistani oil reserves through targeted drilling from Karzeghistan. The United States and Great Britain quickly denied the accusations questioning the validity of the documents.
Unsatisfied and keen to further prove western interference the Takistani Army moved south across the border into Karzeghistan, overwhelming their defense force and seizing their oil fields.
4 days later, following refusal from Takistan to withdraw its troops a US and British coalition began a large scale bombing campaign on Takistani Army locations in Karzeghistan; predominantly the oil fields. With assistance from the Karzeghistan government, coalition troops began deploying to the region with the intent of pushing the Takistani Army back across the border.
On the 4th of April 2016 Operation Ochre Shell was launched against the Takistani Army who were already in retreat out of Karzeghistan. Coalition forces successfully repulsed the Takistani Army but encountered extensive mining of roads and infrastructure in the wake of the Takistani withdrawal. Shortly after, following continued Takistani shelling of Karzeghistan settlements Operation Ochre Valley began with the intent of protecting ethnic Karzeghis being persecuted in Takistan.
