SITUATION:

Spurred on by their recent success in the Crimea region of Ukraine the Russian Federation have deployed troops across the Finnish border in Karelia. The Kremlin insists their actions are to protect ethnic Russians within Finland from persecution under a corrupt and failing system.

The Finnish Defense Force has withdrawn to the border of Karelia where a fragile ceasefire is in place. Neighbouring regions throughout Finland are now under pressure as militias from both sides are fighting and straining the FDF further. Russian backed forces have control over the majority of Kymenlaakso in the south and extensive reports of Russian troops fighting beyond the agreed ceasefire line appear to be true.

A coalition of NATO countries are supporting the FDF to combat the growing militant threat but have stopped short of sanctioning military action in support of the FDF against Russian troops in Karelia. 40 Commando have been deployed to the Kymenlaakso region to disrupt Russian troop activity supporting the militias.

A Russian radar site has been identified in the Village of Haavisto (designated as Objective Coffee). While this is active Finnish airstrikes against supplies being brought over the border cannot take place and the enemy strength grows.
