Public server maps

Hey i dont know if its just me but i feel the current map on the public server (Rashmaan) it getting a bit stale and repetitive. Is there a possibilty of mixing it up a bit to a new map, prefereably one with more woodland/forest areas. it would be nice to try a jungle map (if one exists). Any thoughts?

I'd be happy to make one, but last time I put one up for test it was deleted without explanation.
Still waiting for someone to tell me why.
Until then...

The Wrecking Crew Server in ArmA 2 did run (probably still is) a mix of insurgency maps with middle east scenarios and on the other hand also domination on chernaus. I liked the mix, the only problem was that while you can start insurgency with 3-4 players already, you need at least 6-8 people online to play domination. I think they had a shedule like this:

Monday.
03:00 - 18:00 Domination
18:00 - 03:00 Insurgency

Tuesday
03:00 - 18:00 Insurgency
18:00 - 03:00 Domination

Wednesday
03:00 - 18:00 Domination
18:00 - 03:00 Insurgency

Thursday
03:00 - 18:00 Insurgency
18:00 - 03:00 Domination

Friday
03:00 - 18:00 Domination
18:00 - 03:00 Insurgency

Sunday
03:00 - 18:00 Insurgency
18:00 - 03:00 Domination

So each mode had the benefit to run three times a week during the peak hours.

Apollo, I am happy to help. I have been learning to make a few Alive maps for the public server (Jungle, Fallujah, and others if they are compatible with Alive). I have spent a few hours understanding the mod and transferring the existing mission from Reshmaan (the base layout etc...) to other maps, and using MCC and Zeus to add in a few enemy FOB's or points of interest (thanks for the tips Frosty). I have also made a request for some access to the private server to test FPS on these maps in the future.

There was also a new update for Alive yesterday which claims to have improved load times and vehicle placement (hopefully no more exploding vehicles on spawn), however I have read that it is not entirely backward compatible, so I will have to check that out this weekend.

Oh, and I must say that MyCatSaid's reskin for the AAF looks fantastic on desert maps. I hope we can make use of this.

We need a couple of things sorting out:

1. Who is coordinating the public server?
2. The mod pack needs to be released so missions are made with a common framework. When?
3. The coordinator should allocate a designer to each map available so we don't duplicate / waste each others time.
4. Testing should be conducted on the private server before a mission is put live on the public.

Nah.

I still think the best weapon on a battlefield is a well armed and well training infantry squad. I do think that the current level of CAS support we have on the server is enough in general.

edited by Apollo...later...Jamie - sincere apologies, looks like I edited your post rather than what I intended to do which was to quote parts of it.

2. This will be released this weekend (bear in mind the mod pack is for private missions only).

Can you confirm it will have a single bikey which will be used to control the version of the overall mod pack please?

4. Completely agree.

Hasn't been happening though.

In regards to your mission being deleted - I don't recall this happening. Checking the private mission folder now, I can see two missions of yours:
  • Apollo_ZeusMCC_AGM_v1-0.Altis
  • Apollo_ALiVE_Altis_v2-2.Altis
The Altis AliVE mission was last modified on May 31, 2014, the day you made this post. Perhaps jump on TS when you're free so we can discuss this?

If I ever saw you on TS or in the public server I would! I'm on most evenings.

I spent 2 full days making an Altis Alive mission (Apollo_ALiVE_Altis_v2.2) after several people asked for it and no one else said they were doing it.
31/5/14, 2.57am Posted to say it was up on the Private Server for testing, went out for the day
31/5/14, 8.08pm Came home to find the private server had been taken down so no one else could test the mission - nothing else running on it though
31/5/14, 11.31pm Found an Altis Alive mission by Frosty running on the Public Server - no announcement, no public testing - subsequently I hear it suffers from low FPS, haven't seen it running since?

Given this experience I'm not bothering with making public missions again until I'm confident there's some more organisation involved.

I dont think we really need planes at all in general.

The A-10 or Wipeout are pretty much just toys. You can get the job done easily without them.

Put the Commanche in. That is the compromise for the FATA map.
