Hi Carl hope you managed to get the mod downloaded okay.  In the editor if you place a player unit down, preferably a soldier, the next time that you go to place a single unit down you will also have the option to place empty units.  Helicopters and airplanes will be in their, the other option is to use the Virtual Reality Trainer which has tutorials on how to fly and do just about everything in Arma.

Start with the Littlebird MH-6.

The Chinook isn't the best flight model - it seems a little happy to tail slide out of a hover. We're looking into seeing whether we can improve it's flight characteristics.
