Yeah, the expansion will probably end up being a de-facto requirement for everybody, same as Operation Arrowhead for A2 ended up being a requirement for like 99% of clans.

And what happened to the clans who didn't move to OA?

Also as said above, Arma is quite possibly the cheapest form of entertainment I have ever come across, and that includes the price of my rig. If the next DLC gets me even half of the hours that A3 has then it would still be cheap at twice the price.

I'll be happy to pick up a few versions for anyone in a bind.

I'd imagine we'll be getting onto the new map in fairly shirt order - new shiny toy with a rejuvenated player base and and all that :)

Nail on the head. It's a chance to grow a unit that plays a a game that is few years old..... fresh blood.

I wonder if it will be a standalone?

Yeah, if none of the usual suspects (Apollo? SerJames?) gets around to it, I'll be on DEV branch in the week before it hits stable (I'm going to assume they'll DEV and RC tanoa, too), getting a mission ready for the DLC launch day :)

Map has some nice potential for some different scenarios and not just evil russians and evil terroirsts. Could be evil paramilitary or evil drug cartels and civil war stuff.

I can't wait for the expansion, and given the amount of content that's been added since launch that is basically free, it's only fair to charge for a whole new landmass, given the work involved.

Besides, as has already been said, I'm happy to give BI the cash if it results in another 1000 hours of entertainment

Yep. 1800 hours for around €35 in total spent - I really can't argue with any additional costs. Plus for all of our winging at BI - they really do treat their core player base fairly well. So for that, I'll always happily throw money their way :).

Maybe we could do a couple of beach landing TvT's, with a bit of a twist, Japanese Ground Self Defence Forces vs United States Marine Corps in a pseudo Pacific War landing.  Pretend it's 1943-44 with M16's and Howa Type 89's rather than M1 Garands, M1 Carbines, Thompsons, Arisaka Type 99s and Type 100s.
