Yes, they now have to consider the multi-threaded aspects of submitting calls.  Even to the point of adding in barriers to the graphics code.

Having said that, its what the games industry was asking for.  They wanted more control and a way to remove the bottleneck

Something I have just thought of regarding modset and repos.

Built in server browsing and automatic downloading of mod dependencies to join a server....

I imagine this is going to be done via steam workshop. The question is...how does it affect 3CB. If somebody wants to join our server...which we see people getting booted all the time..this is a big positive if they can get on with minimal work. It should increase numbers no end.

Obviously the big issue here is getting the mods on to steam workshop because they are not at the moment AFAIK.

A lot of the core mods, such as RHS and CUP_terrains, a lot of people will already have...or at least will as they join other servers so a large number of people will just have our custom mods to download.

Are we going to put our mods on workshop to take advantage and if so..how. As one mod or separated into packs or maybe have a complete mod for our server on steam and packs elsewhere for others to use?

We're going to be using Arma3Sync, not Steam Workshop in the near to mid term.
There are many mod authors, whose mods we use in our repo, that will not allow their mods to go on Steam Workshop, so until that is resolved it's going to be a problem for that route.

Hopefully they might change their position given this development....

I doubt that.

There is no war to end all wars.
