Any Hearts of Iron IV players?

Hit me up famParadox have just dropped the Waking the tiger add on which focuses on the chinese-japanese conflicts. it also updates a fair bit of the game too, you can now give skills to your generals/field marshals and they've modified the way FM's control large armies, I rather like the update, there's a new decisions section that allows you to influence various things, issue war bonds, or start war propaganda against someone, also invest in your mines/resources (plant a buttload of rubber trees?). if you control canal routes you even get the ability to destroy them making shipping head the long way round, bring them to your sub fleets!

I've built the thousand year reich and managed to not have to fight russia (yet, they've got it coming though) i've seen norway through the worst the germans can do and joined the allies in the european struggle.
My french game didn't go so well, france just has too much territory to be able to effectively defend the homeland and basically half of africa and asia, britain are the same but have the bonus of a freak-HUEG fleet so they generally get away with it.
I once turned canada communist and invaded the unites states, that went surprisingly well early on but the southern states rallied and i'd just ran out of manpower, nevermind the resistance...

Just wondered if anyone else plays this as i've been dropping a lot of time on it recently.
Pete

Aye BICE isn't working on the new patch and i'm getting impatient, it's a good mod, adds a bit more realism to it.

Any man that can hitch the length and breadth of the Galaxy, rough it, slum it, struggle against terrible odds, win through and still know where his towel is, is clearly a man to be reckoned with.

Yeah mate I think the creator's of the BICE mod are trying theyre best to sort that issue asap but as we know it takes ages sometimes.

I also play Stellaris but right now most of the mods I use are broken from the apocalypse DLC which sucks.

Got about 300 hours in HOI4, love the game, although got a bit burned out by it. But since waking the tiger I've been playing a bit more.

Love HOI - Not got the new expansion yet though, is it worth the £?

From what I've heard it's pretty good. What else is added?

Literally quoting their thread, apologies for being a bit lazy:
  • Chinese National Focuses: Divided and under threat, China has great reserves of manpower and diplomatic flexibility
  • Chain of Command: Unite your armies under a field marshal who can take advantage of the many skills of the generals under his direction.
  • Decisions and Missions: Historical decisions and national missions give your new places to spend Political Power, as you deal with
domestic politics or start special projects.
  • General Traits and Abilities: Generals’ traits can now unlock powerful Command Power abilities, allowing great flexibility and creativity.
  • Updated Japanese Focus Tree: More attention to the Asian campaign and alternate history paths, including restoring Civilian
Government or allying with the feared Soviets.
  • Updated German Focus Tree: New possible histories for the German Reich, including the chance to replace Hitler with the exiled
Kaiser, or lead a democratic Germany against Stalin.
  • Acclimatization: Over time, troops will learn how to survive in the desert or harsh winters, giving these veterans an edge on the battlefield.
  • And More: Capturing battlefield equipment, new music and sounds and a revitalized air war system that has room for Volunteer air wings.
it honestly has added a fair amount, it's a real update rather than a DLC, Kornflakes has put some fresh air into it.
lots of tweaks to values have been done too, they're trying to balance out the soft attack etc, there's been a few complaints but many do like it, i've not tried it yet but you can depose hitler and start a german civil war if you want, AI has a chance to do it too.

it's quite a read, as you can see it's 4.75 people long! ;)

Got to love that paradox tradition!

And cheers dude, sounds like it's a good one. I think I'll have to get it when I finish my current Stellaris playthrough

I wish they would add a POW system and having to keep a number of troops back to guard them but thatll never happen.

Is one person long the same as the Dvorak? Where the Dvorak wiki page is 1 long.

I was never nerdy enough to enquire which Dvorak that was, but the guys I knew had a script to automatically crawl and index wiki pages - they were very excitable.

HOI looks very interesting, does it have a high patience factor?

My head is on a swivel, I just left the WD-40 at home.
