Medals- Special Achievement (mostly in-oprations)e.g. faced with certain death on a tvt only to gun down the enemy section and win or drag a casualty out of a area that you where 99% likely to get shot in. These would require nominations either by NCO+(?) Or Marine+(?).
It's a tricky one Jamster. I initially suggested a 'man of the match' styled award for TvT - though it was pointed out that it may encourage solo play and defeat the purpose of encouraging natural section styled play (particularly with TvT's where it's a bit more noticeable), which admittedly was a valid point. Additionally, we wanted to try avoid ribbons from overly effecting game-play (players going out of their way to put themselves in unusual situations).
The other point is based on anything which could be too subjective. E.g. 'Player A auto-rotates a hele and crew to safety, which is a huge achievement for them. Yet Player B feels it's a basic procedure and thinks it was awarded to unfairly.' It was surprisingly hard to balance without the risk of annoying too many people.
You'll notice all the current awards are easy to gauge fairly, without really raising the question of favoritism. As I said, it's a tricky one man, and we weren't 100% sure how they'd be received. I.e. casual achievement hunter vs hardcore completionist
. I'm thinking once they're implemented and we can get a good feel for them, we can adjust accordingly and start adding to the mix.
