Patrol Op #1

Yesterday was our first go at a 'patrol op' type mission, which focuses on slower-paced gameplay (bringing a nice balance between our mid-week and Sunday ops). Our objective was to sweep a valley of IEDs.

I was very impressed with how we played last night. People were naturally forming herringbones whenever the troop halted, formations were spot-on, communication was tight, reaction to contact was controlled. We could all feel last night just how well we played as troop, and how good these types of ops can be. It was brilliant, well done to everyone.

Special thanks to Arka for Zeusing for us.

Looking forward to next week!

Are we having air support on this map or is it too small still?

We could of course introduce vehicle Bourne logistics. Cas. MERT etc. But given the nature of the missions whoever signed up for those roles would have to appreciate periods of inactivity could be High. We needed a chopper last night to Evacuate casualties and a prisoner. But it was literally 5 mins of flying time.

It probably isn't clear from the pic, but the map was Clafghan. So yeah, as Serjames said, we definitely could introduce vehicle logistics - it just depends on the mission objectives ;)

Any chance you can have a look at the lighting problem with the sky on Clafghan, Goodon? I know you have altered the lighting system on the older maps in the past.

Yeah I might have a look at it and see if it's fixable. Haven't looked at the new lighting configs yet, so don't know what to expect.

Regarding air assets for Clafghan, it's entirely possible we could have maybe a chinook or either an Apache circling around the map? Kunar doesn't actually have any ISAF air bases, but Nangarhar, south of Kunar, does have an ISAF US Airbase in Jalalabad. Could say that RAF have stationed there along with the USAF?

Maybe have two people in the Apache until 1-0 requests for air logistic or MEDEVAC, and they switch out for the Chinook?

For something like that, might be worth having the logistics pilots simply operating UAVs over the AO rather than an Apache? Lets them "retask" instantly, and less of an overpowering bastard :v
