It has been ages since I played this map and I dont remember it being so "bad".

Most players have terrible outside the base area.
Since the base is on a Island, you are overly dependent  of helos to transport troops, gear and vehicles. The only alternative is the landing craft and that is pretty slow.

Terrible what outside base?
Did you see the posts above about the teleport to the mainland?

Teleport is broken right now (at least from base to FOB) and that would still not really help getting land vehicles over.

- fixed base to FOB Ebo teleport 
- added FOB Pungwe (on the eastern mainland) with teleport to/from base

Both FOB's contain armouries and respawning vehicles (quads, LandRovers, Jackals/Coyotes).
Larger vehicles need to be transported by boat to the mainland - you need to put in effort before reaping those rewards.

When i connected this afternoon i sloted into Whiskey 1 when i spawned TFR would not connect and i was just starring at the floor with no ability to move or anything just type in chat, i logged out changed slot worked fine so i went back to whiskey 1 and it was fine so i thought i should report it anyway.

Dont think its related to the mission. I think the latest upfates to TFAR have especially connecting the plugin sometimes a bit weird. I had similar issues and when I closed TS the game worked fine again.

I think the current map is also missing some direction. Seems to be just another 'clear and move' job.

Could we add some enemy strongholds and assets (such as comms centres) please?

What mission is currently running? Is it still Chickenhawk?

Sorry, didn't realise the map had rotated. I was referring to chickenhawk.

Lovely map but a bit bland on gameplay.
