Deleting by Zeus is a reaction on something that should have not happened in the first place. Also you dont always have a Zeus around to do it.

I have yet to see players who use this function properly on the public server. Proper usage is impossible as I mentioned earlier. You pretty much snap with your fingers and you have instant cover. I dont blame people for doing that and they dont do it with bad intentions. It is just broken atm.

There is no war to end all wars.

I'm not sure if it's possible to build the trenches everywhere. I think on stratis and altis you can just build them on dirt. So it might depend on wich map you're playing on

I've seen it used a few times to hold an area while awaiting reinforcements and expecting enemy armour to roll in. It is frequently misused, but not universally - I'd expect that usage will slacken a bit over the coming weeks as it stops being a new and shiny feature.

I wouldn't be averse to seeing them disabled currently, but nor do I really think it needs to be nuked.

If you read the bottom part of my previous message. Wait for SJ to obtain a possible fix. And it was used properly yesterday on the public server. Which you was on.

Improper. Roads. Being able to build it in 15 seconds. Built in Base. Spawning area. No enemy around.

Proper use. Many contacts heading your way. Under contact either armor engaging you. A holding point on top of a hill. LZ when under contact.

All of this because you can build them everywhere in about 5 seconds.

No immediate plans to ban them guys so don't worry. I would request SC's or Troop commanders to remind their troops when and where to use them appropriately. No-one should really be digging in without their say so anyway.

Longer term I hope ACE will make a change, but again the more support I get on the forums, the more likely the devs will listen and bump it up the priority list :-)

lets stay calm chaps. No need to vote. It's not getting removed in the short term. So lets just wait to see what ACE team come back with.

It would be nice if it could evolve into a feature similar to squad, whereby only the SL can decide where fortifications are placed, and the grunts have to dig the hole.

To be honest its going to be a tough one to judge, there will have to be a balance between realism and gamey. As Mefirst has said, it would take some serious time to build defences like that IRL, but on the other hand, do we really want to simulate the hours it would take to build a FOB on a public mission that is only fully populated for a few hours at a time.

If this is a feature people want to keep I can see this going the route of the ACE med system and we will spend quite a lot of time tweaking this, assuming the devs add the option.
