No I tested it several times. I get full lock and release. It wouldn't give me full lock if it wasn't capable of hitting the target. I don't know how the GPS lock is actually done, however, when I seem to fly off and set a new GPS target, the bomb will lose tracking. The GBU38 was always able to maintain guidance if you resetted the GPS target and set a new one. At least this was the case in the past. It should maintain lock as the GPS target is programmed in the bomb (IRL), rather than communicated by the aircraft. I'm making a small clip to put on their forums when and if I have time.
