The AI was last changed on
Friday 9th January, when we introduced VComAI.
VComAI replaced ASR_AI and TPWCAS, and is markedly better in most respects according to Serjames. They are definitely tougher and smarter than your standard AI.
However, there is a known problem which means that their skill level is set slightly too high - or at least, higher than we would like for game play on the public server. The issue is that the VComAI mod is not able to read the 3CB configuration file (where we set the AI skill levels as we would like them), so it instead reverts to a default config. Unfortunately this default config is hard coded into the mod and has AI skill levels which most public players find uncomfortably high.
We have
reported this bug to the author and are told a fix will be in the next update.
Zeus spawned units are treated slightly differently, taking on the skill level defined by the Zeus client VComAI config, so in theory Zeus units could actually be easier than Server spawned AI at present. However, this depends on each Zeus having the correct config loaded, and it isn't something we've worked on doing just yet.
