Thread for mod concepts.


Here we can share ideas for mods.
For sake of keeping this thread clean, I set a few guidelines to respect.

Mod concepts and discussion about posted concepts only. No bichin about what is missing in ARMA 3
Try to describe your concept with these topics:
 What is it
 Purpose and usefulness
 How it works
 What needs to be done
 Will you or are you able to do it
Do your research first. If addon exist, It should be founded with few keyworlds.
 (And) If somebody knows a mod that fits to description, he is obliged to inform  the person about that.

Drag'n'drop Map Markers

Introduction:
Current state of ARMA 3 map is near bare minimun: Grid, navpoint (shift + click), marker library, corninate and height  info. No compas, no ruler, no freedraw. But the worst is how you handle the marker library. You have only 6 (doubleclick, 4 arrowkeys and shift)  keybindings to over 120 markers and over 20 colors. Finding the right marker is laborious and time-consuming so it doesn't encourage players to use them fully. For example NATO map symbols would be the easiest and clearest way to pop contacts to the map but they are afrer 12 markers and you have to cycle 3 options (frendly- enemy- neutral) per marker.

Here is my concept how to ease and enhance the usange of map markers with illustration

The gatecory tab is used by mouse or key- command
There a box of markers. Every marker is in "box" so it higlights the background when cursor is over it. Grab a marker and drag it where you want to place it and after it is has been released it gives a option to give text description
The tool is fully customable by user

And little bit about key- commads:
In genric, action, locations: Modifier + arrow up/down = cycle color
In units: Modifier + arrow up/down cycle side (frendly- enemy- neutral). Modifier + arrow left/right cycle unit strenght.
Choosing color/ side or strenght  updates whole page, not a seperate marker

Unfortunately I'm not motivated to study how to do this ATM... But if you know how map and markers works in ARMA, let me know. Even I'm a hardcore self- learner and like to lear new things. writing a code has never been my busynes (I have symptoms of dysgraphia so i dislike writing)

That mod would be great for section commanders who have to constantly mark the map as it does take forever in ArmA 3.
