That's why you've got to make sure you suppress the BTR before it starts returning fire x'D

AI are automatically suppressed by the game engine already Robbie. Depends on their courage levels how much possibly.
I was experimenting with AI yesterday and it's amazing to see them hide in defilade and behind trees while you shoot near them and they don't pop back up until you cease fire.
Unlike us, the AI don't have the option to ignore the suppression and get shot.  ;-)

So although I'm not entirely sure whether I like this mod, I don't think it's unfair on us v. AI.

No way. In the open they lie down sure, and sometimes they take cover, but they definitely don't wait for fire to cease. They just turn around and zip you one in the face 1st burst :(

I actually heard some soldier say that he was told a .50 round within 18 inches of you will sear flesh, is that true?
Not quite.

It will cause superficial wounds if passing very close. A lot closer than 18inch.

I'm sure there will be a test on youtube or something.

18inch? Nah that's a load of sh*t .50 rounds can't do that.

No Vex, it depends on settings.

I tested and verified what I reported. Suppression of AI works very well and they are not expert marksman if you use the right settings.

Have a look in your new difficulty settings in SP and experiment with the two values - set precision low enough and they'll almost always miss you even from close range.

I'd be skeptical of damage even from near misses. While the supersonic crack is indeed energetic for something the size of your finger, it's not got a lot of energy behind it in real terms. Much the same as a drop of water from a boiling pan will only make you flinch without actually damaging you, I'd highly doubt it'd have an effect on any part of you that isn't specifically to detect noise, i.e. your poor ringing ears, even if it did pass within centimetres..

I was referring to the public server tbh. I lose track of what the settings are at on that though :/

Currently the public server is set to normal/regular without further adjustment. In testing it seemed to be pretty balanced, as you might expect from a default setting. As we're now using a new config template you might find the AI experience has changed (for the better?) in the last few days.
