Its not just about realism, its also better to use. The system of map marking hasnt really changed since Operation Flashpoint, which is a game that was released when a fair ammount of our members were unable to tie their own shoes and couldnt even look over the kerbstone.

Putting markers down, especially enemy units and positions is much easier and faster.

There is no war to end all wars.

We trialled it a long long way back and ended up not implementing it. I can't remember the reasons and they may no longer be valid - that's just for info so that you new guys who've only been here a year or two ;-) have some background.

The only way to find out what the majority of our players think is to put it on another trial, rather than argue over it's theoretical merits/downsides before practical experience on our server with our players. What one person finds easy to use or adding to realism, another may find a pain in the rear and detracting from fun. We strive to maintain that balance somehow.

So first SJ has to notify on priority, then it needs error checking, then we can test and see where the consensus opinion lies.

Give it a trial first. I actually don't have any trouble placing map markers down on the map normally, as I can do them fairly quickly with good enough intel. And, again, support Robbie's last saying that we should bring it into Phase 1 rct training to teach them how to use it.

Can you test it on a pub mission file to see if it works with our current map markers please?

I tested it on a test mission I have on my HD which basically is using the private modset and our normal modules and company slotting from the public server.

Seems to work fine by default so far.

Is it just a picture frame for the map?

Seems to be a lot for people to be getting fussed over.
