ACRE with BAF Backpacks

I assume you're talking specifically about the FAC/SL/FTL backpacks.  The weight of the pack is stored in the config, which unfortunately cannot be altered via a script.

One solution would be for you to create a new backpack class that inherits everything from ours, and then changes the weight.  It would require approx 4 lines of config per backpack.

I'll take a look at the config and see if there is a cleaner solution.

Which of the ACRE radios do you use?

The alternative lifetap is just to create empty versions of the FAC / SL / Radio backpack without any TFAR radio / radio weight inside, rather than a particular ACRE radio. That way he can just put the radio in there at spawn. As stated in the original post, that is what they do currently, it is just they are penalised by having the TFAR radios take up space and carrying capacity, plus the ACRE one.

Is it possible to create a clever "if" function whereby if it detects TFAR it applies a TFAR radio. If it detects ACRE it uses an ACRE radio instead #moon&stick

Yeah James that should be doable by checking CfgPatches to see whether ACRE or TFR is running.

SJ, unfortunately that is not possible.  The configs are static and cannot be altered at run-time, so detecting which module is loaded does not help.

Evrik's idea is something that we have looked at in the past, but discarded for some reason, which I now cannot recall. I'll look again.

Is it not possible to extend the eventhandler that runs on each unit when initialised in the config? Like the randomising gear one?

The issue is that the weight value, the OP was commenting on, is statically defined in the config.  There would have to be separate backpacks, as suggested by Evrik, to over come the issue.
