3CB map, Pilots requests etc..

Here is the thread for pilot specific requests in the 3CB replacement of cTab.


I would also suggest that features not be confined to just pilots and incorporate stuff for FAC and other similar roles.


GPS
* Pilots GPS to be solid map based rather than that useless in game GPS. 
* The GPS to be controllable for zooming in/out and not be affected by speed as it currently is.
* Ability to move/scroll GPS map with mouse using an interaction key. Double click or another button snaps to current position.

Waypoints
* Ability for a pilot to put down a series of waypoints and get guidance to the next waypoint. (direction, distance) 
(this is an actual real feature that has been around since the 1940's with inertial navigation, they first appeared on rockets with the first proper system used on the V2)
* Additional waypoints to mark other things such as home, targets/threats, ERV, backup LZ
* A colour coding system for waypoints 

Map
* Ability to use a smaller map to simulate holding it in your hands and not obscuring your entire vision.
* Map/GPS displayed on MFD

Ground Units (FAC etc)
* Vector information on waypoint (shift-click). Maybe the ability to have a number of these for different targets that don't link like pilots NAV waypoints.
* Distress beacon. Once deployed the signal is picked up by an aircraft and the direction of the distress beacon is displayed to the pilot like a waypoint. (would work for shot down pilots too)

Map on MFD as a functional entity is a no-go, I explored it for quite some time but the only way you could get a map on an MFD would be as a static image that you had to provide for each and every map, and without markers etc.

Gotta say, from my point of view the only things I would like are a larger GPS with higher opacity/colouration and the speed-zoom linkage removed. Add the ability to temporarily pop it to a larger map while still heads-up, and it'd have all I want.

That's good, because I have already tested that with our map marking system, and its 100% compatible

I've always liked the look of tao's map, never got round to trying it

MicroDAGR has these functions. Since ACE I have never used basic GPS. It's up to mission makers to give them to pilots.

So a large proportion of what is useful to pilots is already available. Good news

Or the Mod team could add it so it's always down stream regardless of mission and mission maker.
