He still needs to add sounds and first person, but it is one of the biggest ambient environmental improvements in a long time. You can actually add in your own working track to any map via Eden and the train will follow it.

I don't think that would work. The train cars are held 'close' together. There is no actual coupling I think. Also, there are no changes in terrain on a railway line. It is flat. The train cars don't really articulate independently like they would in a Viking, say with the front cab climbing a slope in a ditch, but the rear one still coming down the opposing slope.
