Have not painted now for several years, but also used Citadel paints,
Most of my painting was 15mm figures, where due to the numbers required, speed was of the essence.
My process was a little different from Melon's
1. Undercoat in either dark brown or black (black if there is a lot of chain/plate on the model)
2. A heavy dry brush of white, to pull out all but recesses
3. Glaze (using Citadel acrylics) over the white areas to add the colours. Because it was mostly historical, I was after a muted colour palette
4. Indian ink wash (almost always a brown) to bring out the details, particularly any skin
5. Very light dry brush (white or silver) to put back some of the highlights
