Kajaki : the true story

Not sure if it's been mentioned, but I watched this last night on Netflix, and even my wife (who hates war films) was hooked, harrowing true story but very well done imho

German Movies, Ja?

Oh Boy is kind of a german classic to me. The film was shot with a very small budget and is actually the master thesis from a young director from 2012. The film is shot in black and white and shows the day of a young german man in berlin. There is no direct story in the film and it more or less is just showing obscure, funny and sometimes tragic moments. The main character is a young drifter who is is living in the day in berlin. He is also failing to get a coffee .:)

That's not his fault. It's all these hipster plamf baristas trying to make coffee all haute couture.

On German films. I always liked Das Boot, The Lives of Others and Downfall. I've seen others but those three stick in my mind.

I also prefer my waiters and the people who serve stuff in small shops and kioks gruffy and slightly unfriendly.

Saw The Revenant last night. Very cool flick, had a real Terrance Malick vibe about it (before his movies turned into 4 hour long rambles). Definitely worth the watch for the opening scene alone.

Did watch it with the misses though...who although enjoyed it, did find some of the brutal scenes a little jarring - so heads up in that regard, as it's probably not the best date movie.

Perfect date movie then, woman scared, woman gets closer as they think you can protect them win win, (just make sure you don't jump or scream like a girl as this will nullify the effect).

Yea...though graphic bear attacks, infected wounds, genocide, casual racism, and a mild rape scene didn't really get her in all that cozy of a mood lol.
