New recruit general questions....

Hi Gents,

Now that I have spent some time with the game and with you guys, I am starting to feel more confident in my abilities, I do have a couple of noob questions I would like to get out of the way whilst I am still a recruit!

1. What is the etiquette for joining a game? Currently I just leap in to the biggest squad on the server in a slot I feel comfortable with (anything other than FTL) is this the right thing to do?

2. How do I change my game name and teamspeak permissions now I am recruit status, is this done automatically?

3. What are the rules on thermal sights? I used one last night and it felt quite a lot like cheating!

4. I am known as rob in game (this was default) but I notice there is another Mne. Rob, I should probably change my game name to match my forum name i guess, Only bobert is a stoopid name so I have been avoiding it!

I am planning on joining you on Sunday night and I just want things to go smoothly as its my first time on the private server.

Maybe I can answer some questions. However since I have no position in recruiment management, dont take my answers as 100% official.


1. We are speaking of the public server, right? Yeah you pretty much do the right thing. I doubt there are fixed rules about what slot you should take, but you already show some common sense. It is way more fun to play with sections who are filled, so one full section is in general better as two half empty ones.

2. We dont use a squad.xml right now, so in the game you have to do it yourself. So your name should look like this in the game:
Rct. Bobert. Teamspeak should sort itself out, once the admins set the right group for you in teamspeak.

3. There are bo fixed rules for this in the public server as far as I know. I personally dont like to run around with thermals all the time, since it feels a bit cheap. Plus in our Operations you will rarely have access to thermals, so you maybe dont want to form bad habits.

4. Your forum name should match teamspeak and ingame. If you want to change your name, you might want to get in contact with the admins and talk to them about it.
