Beginners guide to video editing?

Recoding: DxTory or Fraps. DxTory has a bit more customisable options such as recording different sound devices and you can also use a different video codec like Lagarith which is high quality and low file size.

Editing: Sony Vegas is the norm in most cases and it is pretty simple to use and render 1080p.

If you want less fuss, cut out the editing and rendering part then xSplit is great for just recording whole length operations and it does all the uploading work.

I record with Dxtory and my microphone with Audacity. I do the editing and encoding with TMPGEnc Video Mastering Works 5. To me its easier to use as Sony Vegas and I think right now it costs "only" 99$.

You should be careful when you put music inside your video. Youtube does not exactly like people having music under copyright in videos. Your video will often get deleted or people in certain countries (with different copyright laws) might not be able to see your video. Eventually this could also get your account in some trouble.

There is no war to end all wars.
